With the BCD396T coming out, I'm wondering if anyone has any information on TN's tone dispatch on 33.80. Cap codes, tone freqs, etc.

I found a website that has a ton of recorded tones:
http://www.geocities.com/hebron228/sounds/

But, when using sound editing software to determine the tone freqs, and by using NCH Tone Generator by ear, the tones do not seem to match up to Motorola QCII.

Anyone got a good program for decoding tone freqs yet?

There are a few different formats out there depending on the equipment manufacture...Motorola, Orbcom, Zetron etc. Most tones are pretty close, and as far as pagers/equipment are concerend, they will still alert.

On top of that, you really need to use the baseband audio out of the scanner to get an accurate tone freq, as the audio you hear has gone thru some changes to make your listening experience more pleasant.

Basically all of them.

I was hopeing to get them into the RR database.

Specifically though, I would be most interested in Vernon.

Are you looking for paging tones or the PL tones?

Most Tolland county PL tones are 179.9 which I submitted a long time ago.

If your looking for PL tones, put the scanner into PL/DPL search mode, life is good.

RR.com doesn't list paging tones.

I am not looking for PL tones as my scanner does not have PL capability or decoding.

I am looking for pager tones. Not sure what system TN uses. A lot of the tones I have found so far match up with Plectron.

RR doesnt list paging tones? Then I guess this page doesnt exist:
http://radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&action=codes&code_id=870

Either way, paging tones would be a nice addition to the database. :)

Ok, so I stand corrected...

Sheesh.

My take here....

There really isnt' a need.

Paging tones are fairly standard across the board. If you do a yahoo or goggle search, there are already lists out there that have the paging tables.

If you want to setout and decode 40+ sets of tones, knock yourself out, but I don't see a purpose of it. And, if you want to get them correctly, you need to know if they are:

A-B, A-C, C-B, Long B, Long C

You need to know this for proper activation and sequence, or the tone numbers mean nothing.

The info u saw in that page was most likely someone who is familar with that system and submitted them.

There is software out there that can do it, but for best performance, you need to have the descrimitor tapped in your scanner (you need to perform surgery on it).

Actually, I was specifically looking for just the tones, since this is all the information the BCD396T will require. No times required.

That being said, time to start on those 40+ tone sets... anyone? :p
