There is a conference call between, the National Weather Service, Media, and area Emergency Management Agencies in about thirty minutes (1300 hours) over the developing weather situation. We have been placed in the "HIGH" risk zone. You can see the graphics below, this is a rare occurrence, so please be prepared for sudden warnings to be issued. Below you will find the most recent Hazardous Weather Outlook text:

[FONT=courier new,monospace]HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OMAHA/VALLEY NE
1210 PM CDT THU MAY 29 2008

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR MOST OF EASTERN NEBRASKA AND

SOUTHWEST IOWA.

.DAY ONE...THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT

THERE IS HIGH RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS OVER MUCH OF THE
OUTLOOK AREA FROM LATE AFTERNOON INTO EARLY TONIGHT. VERY MOIST
AND UNSTABLE AIR IS FEEDING INTO CENTRAL AND SOUTHWEST NEBRASKA.

IN ADDITION A STRONG UPPER LEVEL JET IS FORECAST TO SPREAD FROM
THE ROCKIES ACROSS NEBRASKA BY EARLY EVENING AS A LOW LEVEL JET
STRENGTHENS. THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP IN THE
UNSTABLE AIR FROM SOUTHWEST NEBRASKA INTO KANSAS. OTHER

THUNDERSTORMS COULD DEVELOP NEAR A WARM FRONT THAT IS FORECAST TO
EXTEND NEAR THE SOUTH DAKOTA AND NORTHERN IOWA BORDERS. THE
THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPING WEST OF THE REGION OR THE THUNDERSTORMS
DEVELOPING IN FAR NORTHEAST NEBRASKA WILL LIKELY SPREAD EAST AND

SOUTHEAST ACROSS THE REGION INTO TONIGHT. ALTHOUGH THE MOST
LIKELY TIME FRAME FOR THE STRONGEST ACTIVITY TO MOVE INTO THE
REGION IS FROM LATE AFTERNOON INTO EARLY EVENING...THUNDERSTORMS
COULD ALSO DEVELOP EAST OF THE ACTIVITY THAT IS EXPECTED FARTHER

TO OUR WEST.

DUE TO THE WIND SHEAR AND AMOUNT OF INSTABILITY THAT SHOULD BE IN
PLACE ACROSS THE REGION...THERE IS A GOOD CHANCE OF SUPERCELL

THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY LARGE HAIL AND TORNADOES. THE TORNADO
THREAT WOULD INCREASE OVER THE OUTLOOK AREA IF INSTABILITY
INCREASES...WHICH WILL BE FUNCTION OF THE AMOUNT OF AFTERNOON

HEATING THAT CAN MANAGE TO TAKE PLACE. IN ADDITION...THE
THUNDERSTORMS HAVE THE POTENTIAL FOR PRODUCING HEAVY RAIN AND
FLASH FLOODING...ESPECIALLY WITH THE GROUND QUITE MOIST AND MANY
STREAMS AND RIVERS ALREADY RUNNING HIGH. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH IS IN

EFFECT FOR THE OUTLOOK AREA TONIGHT.

THE THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY WILL LIKELY MERGE INTO A LARGE CLUSTER
LATER THIS EVENING OR EARLY TONIGHT WITH THE MAIN SEVERE WEATHER
THREAT SHIFTING TOWARD HEAVY RAIN...LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY

THUNDERSTORM CHANCES CONTINUE SUNDAY THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT OVER THE
OUTLOOK AREA.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

SPOTTER ACTIVATION WILL LIKELY BE NEEDED BY LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND
DURING THE EVENING HOURS.

Here is the RUC's thinking of where the big CAPE should be at 00z. Lots of helicity too so it looks like there is going to be signifigant SVR in the region.

Couldn't agree with you more Urge! Sure miss the good lightning shows and just the feeling and power involved. (I recommend buying polyphasers if you haven't done so already...)

Too bad you guys weren't out here, I spent an hour or so at the Wood River Bosselman's with the rest of my store employees, on the way home from a meeting in Omaha. From what I heard a tornado passed between us and Wood River, ran into a storm chase tour while we were there, the leader had a nice mobile comm set up, from the dash to the back of the front seat, was solid radios, too bad I don't have a camera in my phone.
BTW is there anyone besides people in the Omaha area on here?
