Toluca City Police freq.??? (update!)

I live right in Toluca, IL

I have had the frequency of 460.400 programmed in for the local police for quite a while now.

Any time it stops one this freq., it sounds really messed up. It isn't clear enough to hear anything that is said. Almost like it is off freq. a little.
I can tell there is someone talking, but it is so scrambled, I can't hear anything that they are saying.

460.400 is listed on every site I have checked for our local police, so I'm pretty sure that this freq. is correct.

I'm right in town, so I know I'm never far from the patrol cars when they are transmitting.

Any ideas why it's not coming thru clearly?

I tried putting the input freq. in, but still not hearing anything on it.

Toluca PD is on 460.4000, I hear them often when I am out there. They also have the county channel in the car radios (154.800)

I can't figure out what the problem is. I hear the county just fine.(154.800) But every time the scanner stops on 460.400, it sounds scrambled.

It's a real strong signal, can't hardly squelch it out, just not understandable.

Any ideas what might be wrong?

They may use scramblers or recently switched to digital mode. Anyone out there have a Pro96???

I sort of wondered if it might be digital. I might have to snoop around, and make some phone calls, and see if I can find out anything. I can't imagine our little town going to digital. But that would explain alot.

I'll see if I can find out, and let you all know if they have switched so it can be changed in the DB.

Oh Boy! I hope they didn't go digital though, I can feel my wallet wanting to open already!!

OK, I went and talked to someone that would definately know what is going on. They told me that the local police just use the county channel, for all dispatching, and car to car talk. (154.800)
The 460.400 is no longer used.


It is used for some kind of telephone connect though, I have heard it 4-5 times today. I can clearly hear touch tones being done, ringing, then 2 people talking. Although it is scrambled, and I can't understand what they are saying.

I grabbed the AOR and moved above, and below the freq. to see if it would come in clearer. It is definatly centered on 460.400.

Just for kicks, I switched over to the input channel (465.400), I could hear the same phone conversation on this channel. It was considerably weaker though.(real quiet)
But on the 460.400 freq. I couldn't even squelch it out, not even with the hand held AOR with a rubber duck.

Would 460.400 be used as a phone connect freq.? Or would that be some kind of digital channel used for it?

Just trying to figure out what it could be coming from.
