All...

Can anyone confirm if any Whistler/GRE scanners offer a tone code lockout feature as Uniden scanners do? I have a WS1098 and could've sworn it had it as a feature, but I don't see any mention of it in the documentation or any forum posts on the topic. I'm trying to monitor a frequency that's licensed to multiple businesses, however an unlicensed local Kohl's uses it with DCS and I wanted to lock that particular code out.

Thanks...

Question to the Question: Does the licensed businesses radios use a form of Squelch code? if so, program that code in and you shouldn't hear Kohls

I've programmed in this particular frequency to find users who are licensed to it. I don't know if they're using coded squelch or not, so I need to lock out what I know and don't need to listen to, hence the need for the feature. I might just program it into my Uniden BC 536 and lock it out there and be done with the problem, but wanted to know if the feature was there on the Whistlers.

When the unit stops on something you don't want you can hit Lock/out or Skip button ( depending on the Whistler model).

I'm referring to locking out a specific tone code, not a frequency during scan. If that's the case, how do you lock out the tone code, rather than the frequency?

If you are talking about CTCSS and DCS yes they do. In EZ Scan go to the conventional frequencies tab, select the freq, Under the Squelch column click on the entry, a pop up box allows you to set the code. In your case select the code you want to lock out and click the EXCLUDE THIS VALUE box at the bottom.

It also works for NAC and RAN codes

Wow...Thank you! That's exactly what I needed. I just want to clarify then, does the scanner continue to search for all other tone codes except the one I don't want? Also, is this operation possible from the keypad of the scanner?

Wow...Thank you! That's exactly what I needed. I just realized, I was spending all my time looking for this in the scanner's documentation, not EZ Scan's documentation. I knew it was possible and was banging my head against the wall. Now my next question, is this possible from the keyboard of the scanner?

Yes, if programmed into the scanner (don't think on search)... Browse Objects, scroll > until you find scanlist with frequency, scroll ^ until you find freq, when you found it press menu, scroll down to enter tone code (as you call it) and exclude box.

I just want to clarify then, once a particular tone code is excluded, does the scanner continue to search for all other tone codes?

On a PROGRAMMED frequency yes, but this does not work in search mode.
