• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is about the pager for your uncle, yes? I assume you're looking to buy one of those Minitor II's on 33.90 that steele_lpd is selling, and you need to find tone filters for it. You're going to have to ask the local FD what tones they use, and see if they might happen to have an extra set laying around for the Minitor II pager. If not, you'll have to find them on ebay or from a shop that still has them.

Ok, I had no idea what that was. If the database does not have the tones listed (and it don't) then you could try to record them yourself and there are a few on here that can decode them for you after you record them.

The database for that county has no tones listed. His uncle is a member of the dept, so it shouldn't be hard at all for him to ask the Chief or whomever what they are. Shouldn't be too hard to find the filters either, there are multiple sellers offering a very good selection on ebay, as well as guys like Gerry from G&G in upstate NY who have thousands of them.

Leasure, those pagers steele_lpd is selling are a GREAT deal at what he's selling them for. They all look in top notch shape, and for the record, the Minitor II is the best voice pager Motorola ever made (way better than the crappy III/IV series, and in many people's opinions, better than the V). Listen, worse case if you have trouble finding the tone filters, your uncle can still listen to the county dispatch channel, just the pager won't alert for his dept until you do get the filters.

Thanks a million!
I have been tring to contact steele_lpd and have not got an answer back. I will try to do some research the best I can to find the filters. Without you guys I would not have been able to do this. If the dispatch channel will come through, thats a start!

Just to make sure, I see 33.90 listed as "County Fire Dispatch", but I also see 154.355 listed as "Cambridge Fire Dispatch", and I see you said in one of your posts you're in the Cambridge area. You do have the correct frequency, right?

And yes, as long as it's 33.90 his dept is dispatched on, he will be able to monitor everything on that channel with a Minitor II, it just won't beep when his particular dept gets a call without the filters. You can always add them later if he wants to.

Cambridge is the bigger city thats on the west side of me. Thats not a VFD, they are paid. My uncle was a memeber of the Old Washington VFD. Thats about 5 miles east of cambridge. I do know of some others that are on other, smaller VFD crews, and they can hear all the other smaller VFD's being paged.
