SDS100/SDS200: Tone out standby

Hello RR I have a Uniden SDS200 scanner. I programmed tone out codes for Cumberland fire department station 4 where my friend is a firefighter. After successfully programming the correct tone codes verified by first using tone out search, when I press menu knob, scroll to tone out for... I press tone out standby. Now the problem I'm having is that I don't get any audio even if the programmed tone is activated by dispatch. The only way I get alert and audio is when I press HOLD then RESUME soft keys when in tone out standby mode to activate it. Is there anyone else that has to do this to get it working or did I do something wrong? Thank you

When you press Tone-Out Standby, do you see the frequency of interest displayed along with what you named the tone-out(s)? Also, do you see the correct A and B tones displayed?

Yes I see the frequency 482.7375 MHz and A 410.5 HZ and B 510.7 HZ but like I mentioned In tone out standby I don't get any audio unless I press HOLD then RESUME to activate it Then when dispatch hits the tones I get my programmed alert blinking light alert tone and I hear the dispatcher and apparatus transmissions According to a Uniden technician when I called I shouldn't have to press HOLD then RESUME to get audio but with all do respect to Uniden that is not the case for me

I'm wondering if it may be something like that frequency's Service Type is not selected.

It's possible But as long as it works for me I guess it's all good, just a PINA to have to go through the additional steps to make it work. Oh well

I shot an email to Rich Carlson, a former employee of Scanner Master. He has more scanners than Uniden and Radio Shack combined. He used two different Uniden SDS200 scanners set side by side bot set to tone out standby both programmed tone out codes the same. On one scanner he pressed HOLD then RESUME and on the other he didn't and sure enough the scanner without pressing HOLD then RESUME ignored to tone and remained silent while the pressed HOLD then RESUME scanner successfully activated and audio was heard. Rich with all of his experience in scanners says that it's weird and that he will reach out to Uniden and request a software update. Thank you for getting back to me

I was able to replicate the conditions identified by user DH11. It was referred to Uniden and they were able to replicate it as well and it will be fixed with the next firmware update. I don't know when that will be issued but it should be pretty soon. In the meantime DH11 identified a workaround in case others are experiencing the issue.
