• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello everyone,
I will be building a new radio cabinet for my home radio's. I will be dividing these radio's into two cabinets. One cabinet for Radio's to include a Uniden BC980ssb, Motorola XTL2500 VHF (Model Number: M21KSM9PW1AN), Motorola XPR5550e UHF (Model Number: M28QNN9RA1AN), and a Harris XG75M/M7300 7/800MHz (Model Number: MAMW-SDMXX). The other cabinet will consist of 6 scanners to include: Uniden BCT15X x3,BCD996XT, BCD996P2, and a BCD536HP. I'm sure I will start a different thread on that as that will be a big task.
My question is, is there a way to connect some type of desktop phone looking remote (Something like a CPI, Zetron, or even a Motorola) to the VHF, UHF & 7/800MHz radio's to monitor them from my desk. I don't know exactly where the radio cabinet will reside just yet, but it will be in the same room. At a minimum I would need to just be able to hear each radio but preferably I would like to be able to see channels names and scroll through zones/channels. If anyone has any information as to how to go about doing this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hiding in a coffee shop.
Sounds like you want a small dispatch console.
Getting alpha/numeric channel names is going to require some radio specific interfaces. It's doable, but it's not cheap.

A simple tone remote isn't going to do channel name displays.

Dispatch console sounds expensive lol. I can live without display/control. Just wanted desktop sound more than anything. I thought about remote heads but didn’t want to go through the trouble of converting and didn’t want to be limited to control head cable lengths.

Been there done that.

I used Telex/Vega DSP-223s and a Vega C1610/C1616. Piece of cake and not expensive at all

I have a few DSP223s and a C1610 just sitting here that I replaced with an IP-1616 and IP-223s (and C-Soft license)... If you're interested, my wife would love me to get of stuff.
