Oh Yes I remember those days as well.
Cabarrus used to do pager/siren tests every Saturday at noon.
Stanly used to do the same with the exception they would do siren tests the first of every month
Union used to do them the first Saturday of the month
Gaston used to do pager tests on Sunday afternoons around 2pm.
Since Mecklenburg transitioned from the first responders being dispatched on Med 9 (462.950). I have the old tones for the first responders, but when Med 9 went away so did the changing of the tones to accommodate duplication of tones across county fire.
I figure before long the analog pagers will be a thing of the past. I know Eastside Fire in Asheboro have started issuing and carrying the G5 pagers.
Now with the options in the new 700/800 Mhz. radios they have the option of alerting the radio like a page. Cabarrus, Mecklenburg and Union use this set-up for alerting the crews and the tones are not even heard over the air.
I sat there at work and used my BCD346XT and tried to decode some of the Gaston Fire Tones, I still have some tones for the rescue squads before they took the VHF Ems/Rescue frequency off-line.
Thanks for the information
