What would be the best way to be able to track only fires in various counties of Florida? The main counties needed are Broward, Palm Beach, Hillsborough, Orange, Brevard, and Duval? There are more counties I would like to cover, but I am not sure what it would take just to do these. Money is not an option, so I would like to hear ideas on the most effective way to do this, including scanners, software, antennas, location, etc. I need to know how many people it would take to realistically cover each county to provide 24 hour coverage. Is there a way to get hobbyists involved in the operation as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Lets see five scanning sites to cover the 6 counties. Six full time employees per site or 30 employees @ $20,000 per year, plus 15% for taxes and insurance is $690,000.00 per year. The first year about $5,000.00 for equipment. So first year $695,000.00 should about do it.

Aw, come-on Gill, you can do it for less. How about putting a software controlled scanning radio in each area and either using a web casting or intra-net link to the sites from a central location, then you can do all the monitoring from one paid position.

Online CAD

Last time I looked about 1 year ago, I found a link to Tampa FL's cad system
where showed via the web, active fire calls.
