Toronto Fire - Radio & ID Check

Just me or is Toronto Fire increasing often requesting a "radio & Id check"? Why might they always be doing this more & more? I have noticed this on West ops & South Ops. What are your thoughts?

My guess would be something to do with the new P25 system. When TPS started switching, there was a lot of on-the-air testing/checks being done, so it would follow suit.
