Just curious, does anyone know if Toronto Fire runs training on the Strategics talkgroups...in my case it was ID 20560 yesterday around 4pm..tuned in in the middle of some sort of training i would assume because they were looking for 2 lost firefighters, figured i would have heard about it in the news this morning if it was real...anyways, just curious if they run Training on channels other then those displayed as Training talkgroups

My fire dept (NFFD) has our own talkgroup (t/g 11) for training purposes, so ya its posible

Ya, so does Toronto Fire though, in fact they have multiple dedicated Training Talkgroups, but this was not on one of those talkgroups, it was one the the Strategics East Fire Command talkgroups....wouldnt it be logically to stick with the dedicated training t/g's for training?

I have heard several training excersises. It is also the only time I hear them mention any firemans names like Johnson or Smith, probably those dummies that they have drag around to simulate a real person, like the firefighter challenges on OLN ? On real calls you'll hear them being addressed by their title/rank; Captain, Chief. I was in Peel Region several weeks ago and heard the fire dept trying to rescue a fireman who fell through the floor and broke his leg and was running out of air. He was gasping for every breath due to heavy smoke as he was trying to give directions as to where he was in the building. He wasn't always answering his radio, long pauses between words, deep breaths, often no responses at all. It was very intense as I was driving in my car and listening to this unfold. Then, after some time, someone said "Remember to use proper english". That's when I figured out it was just an excersise. It sure as heck sounded like the real thing !!!

Ya, this sounded the same, alot of alrms and yelling in the background and apparently three firefighters who were missing in the building, so i am pretty sure that it would be a training excercise, a fire big enough to lose 3 firefighters would have definitly made prime time

Addressess are give-aways sometimes , like Bermondsey , Martingrove, etc..
when you are monitoring , I believe those locations have training towers.

I've heard Bermondsey mentioned often. The tower on Martin Grove at Dixon is noticeable...brick bulding, no windows and lots of soot covering the bricks. Wouldn't be a bad place to be with your scanner during training.
