Hi, I'll be in Toronto for Thanksgiving weekend. I'll probably make my own file, but would appreciate looking at someone elses file just to see how it's laid out.

Also, what OPP TGs do I listen to between Niagra and Toronto? Any highway patrol stuff?

While u are in T.O. punch all the t/g between 8512/8768. On your drive to Toronto you will hear activity from Burlington, Niagara, Burlington, Port Credit and Downsview.

I have a good memory, I think you came here once bef4 and stayed in N.Y., if so you can hear stuff from the King City tower so punch in all the Georgian Ambulance (MOH) t/g's.

For road reports use some of the MTO (misery of transport) frequencies, like Morriston, Burlington, Niagara, Toronto Core Gormley, etc.

Pls dont bring any bad weather with ya, its been great here since the summer (never began) ended. 8) 8) 8)

You're the ones that always bring the bad weather down here! :)

Yeah I was on here before , but I never mad the trip. Now I'm going for Thanksgiving, and will probably go back again in January. (Not looking foward to the cold.)

Thanks for all the info.

PS: I noticed that all the Niagra conventional freqs are encrypted. I'll be spending a day there and will probably go out of my mind!

Okay I joined up with the scanont yahoo group and got some good files. I just need to know what jurisdictions/systems/TGs to listen to on the drive between Niagra and Toronto.

Also, is it worth it to program the Peel, Simcoe, and Halton systems. Will I be anywhere near those? I don't know the geography and that's all that I'm having trouble with right now.

Stuff to Listen to on the drive between Niagara and T.O.:

Niagara, EMS on conventional, check county
Hamilton Motorola system-active and fun to listen to also 2 Ems conventional frequency, check the co info for more

Halton- I hate the EDACS system they use, its 3 towers, its lame. My brother in law lives in Halton and here accuratly describes the scene there as 'police spent their time ticketing cars illegally parked at commeuter rail stations.

Peel region-Mississauga, active system.

North of Toronto is York region, they also use a Motorola system.

To be honest.. I find that if I dont know the area well and do not have any active interest in the area why bother. Halton's system is boring, I dont know much about Peel's. Same for York. When I lived in Hamilton the system was fun to listen 2 as Hamilton is a large enough city, it might be like your Baltimore.

When you are in Toronto make sure you have a good map, there are some great files in teh Yahoo group and make sure you put in:

OPP
MOH-if only for York region EMS
Toronto Public safety I split it into three groups EMS portables, FDP and Police.
Toronto EMS- EMS

Soory, clicked submit before I finished my last post.

Toronto EMS also uses a EDACS system. The maps will help you out for station listings and such. The number system is tricky at first but pm or email me and I'll help ya out there.

You wil have lots of fun to listen to. If I remeember correctly you were goign to go North York. Thats 32 division/ the talkgroup is split with 33 divisions, directly east.

Enjoy

Forget about punching in all the talkgroups between 8512 and 8768. You won't hear much activity on a lot of those groups as they are too far north. If you just want the talkgroups for the area you'll be travelling through then here's what I suggest.

For the major highways:

Niagara 8736
Burlington 8672
Port Credit 8752
Downsview 8720
Aurora 8656 (depending on how far north you go)
Whitby 8768 (depending on how far east you go)

I would also suggest putting in 1HWY02 8512 but it's rare you'll hear anything on it.

Stick in the 4 tactical groups that Orillia dispatches: 9440, 9456, 9472 and 9488.

Forget about Niagara Regional as you've probably already discovered.

For municpal systems (in case you venture off the highways or want to listen to fire), you'll need Hamilton-Wentworth, Halton and Peel.

Not sure which Simcoe system you are referring to. The Town of Simcoe is pretty far west so you won't hear much activity.

The closest you will get to any MOH activity on BMR Fleetnet is the York South channel which Georgian CACC dispatches. If you're interested in the York area, then you might want to consider adding in the York Regional trunking system.

Looks like you've already got Toronto covered.

For MOH, you'll need the old conventional frequencies for Niagara, Hamilton, Halton and Peel (perhaps Oshawa depending on how far east you go).

Mike: I get most of the t/g's on King City between 8512-8768. I think he is going to North York, easy to scan King City from there.

He wanted the OPP talkgroups between Niagara and Toronto, not every talkgroup that the Orillia Comm Center dispatches.

I don't plan on venturing very far. Will stay in Niagra for a couple days, then off to Toronto for the weekend. Not going far, once I'm in Toronto.

Yeah I'm in 32 division once I'm there.

Does Toronto EMS still use the EDACS? The database makes it appear that the EDACS is vacant.

Thanks for all the help! If any of you guys ever come to B'more we'll be glad to help :)

**He is referring to Simcoe County, just above York region. Moe, you likely won't need the Simcoe file from Scanont. I wrote the P96 files. If you want the updated files email me. I sent you a PM.

And one last thing Mo, the weather MIGHT be bad for Thursday, if you are driving that day punch in a few MTO (Transport) t/g's:

Niagara, Burlington, Toronto Core, Kennedy,

They are very active during bad weather periods and if it is our 1st snowfall there will be LOTS of action. People forget how to drive in snow.

I'll probably be staying in Niagra Thurday and then driving to Toronto on Friday. But I'll make sure to put those TGs in as well. I'm probably Mike's file with some of my own supplements.

I wasn't sure as he's passing through Hamilton and Hamilton CACC dispatches the Simcoe, Ontario MOH area which borders on Hamilton and Niagara.

The only way I know what Mo meant was because I wrote the files he was talking about. I should have explained that a bit better in my previous post.

I didn't know Simcoe (the city of) was so close to Hamilton/Niagara. I always had thought it to be near London. Thanks for the clarification!
