It's neat that this system is starting to get discovered much better now.

I guess the analog cutoff had to come for that to happen. :)

It would still be nice to figure out if a handheld radio that could be programmed (receive only of course).

I kinda missed monitoring it and because you guys helped with discovery we got this figured out rather quickly.

I switched over to CIS monitoring this morning and only heard voice on Hillcrest 423.6875 and Davisville 423.7625

Wilson on 423.7125, Finch on 423.6375 and Greenwood on 423.7000 only throw out a Morse ID periodically.

Not a peep out of Arrow, Malvern, Shipp or CN Tower on CIS.

I wasn't using SDR, I went back to the scanner.

Oh really, there is still something on CIS? I thought it was completely discontinued due to Bell shutting down the old network and a part of switching to VISION.

The only thing that still works on analog scanner in my area is the Scarborough RT.

101101 - Wayside Signal Maintainers

I've also heard someone was supposed to switch to a "Transportation Ch.2" in the west end, but on the 3 LA's that I can monitor from the east end, it did not pop up.

I've tried to assign the Main and Current frequencies as seen in the Demodulator to the RadioReference database but for Tetra it won't accept it. I can only put them in as 01, 02 etc.. in the listings So, what I have done is put the Main channel as red and Current as blue. At least for the west side of Toronto.

I tried monitoring the Greenwood one from work. Its weird, really strong signal, with no errors, but the transmissions break up after a few seconds, and the talkgroup disappears from the display. yet, it keeps being lit up in the Timeslot.

if I switch it from auto to manual, and select the timeslot manually, it sounds perfect.

My system has populated a few more confirmed LCN (I manually labeled the "unknown" talkgroups pending discovering what they are. Again the ones with talkgroups may not be accurate so corrections are welcomed.

Looking at the Net Info of the Current Cell I was parked on, I saw that the Color Code was 35 which is also the Local Area. I tried putting it into the RadioReference database but that feature is not accepted for the database listings.

When they send texts, I've noticed this line: SSI:310037 D_SDS_Data Party_SSI:5396 Type:3 Protocol:Simple_text_msg

Yeah too bad those arent being displayed. Im guessing this is messages for the buses, because i've heard some supervisors saying that the a bus didnt get a message, or to send a bus a message, etc...

Interesting situation during the snowstorm... The Malvern LA signal dropped at LEAST 20db for me, and is unusable, barely registers in the demodulator. However both Birchmount and Finch are strong.

I noticed this in the snow a week ago, but I thought it was an anomaly. Today proves it's not. Has anyone noticed this?

Arrow coming in strong, Finch and Wilson very good, and Shipp is choppy from Islington & 401 area. Only way I hear Birchmount is on CIS. I'll try and give a listen later.

Yeah it's odd, becuase I'm closest to Malvern, and normally it's the strongest signal for me, but during snow event the signal seems broken up.

Finch & Birchmount while weaker because they're further form me, are solid with no signal issues.

Weird, once again the signal from Malvern is dying, oddly enough AFTER the brief snowsquall that passed thru the GTA.

During the snow, which wasn't heavy, it was mostly fine but I could see the signal start to drop.

I think Malvern has some issue with their antenna when snow covered. All night the signal was bad into the morning, and when the sun came out and melted the snow, the signal is back up.

New talkgroup discovered, 102716 - Transit Enforcement

They previously shared Surface Channel 1, but I heard earlier that they are testing a separate channel for the Fare Inspectors & Enforcement officers for this weekend.
