So lucky me gets to take in a visit to downtown Toronto in just over a week from now. I'll have the 436 with me.

I am quite content with loading everything I possibly can into the radio. With everything categorically/geographically organized for my travels wherever I go. It's quite easy on the quick keys. I'm that kinda guy.

I'll be 2 days and nights. So in my off time from playing tourist. What should or can I keep tabs on?

Help me load the radio. I have 1 week to program it. :)

Any other areas that I can listen to? Other regional municipalities in the area? I'm not familiar with the distances of the other areas. Anything across the lake?

I'll be primarily in the downtown core.

I have no issue with setting up a small magnet antenna to make due for signals while in the hotel. Which is the same one used while mobile. It's a Tri-band rare earth magnet mount antenna. Don't laugh, they actually work quite well.

When I worked in the MaRS building at College and University on the 17th floor, my HomePatrol 2 would pull in Metrolinx, Hamilton, Halton Region and if I was lucky Niagara Region. Try western NY (Niagara, Erie counties) as well with an 800 MHz antenna.

So basically anything along the south shoreline of Lake Ontario around to the US side then?

I may even be able to try a portable antenna stuck on a window. Can always bring a portable GRE Super Amplifier along for the ride as well.

Dont forget the Metrolinx and possibly anything to do with Union Station, the Rogers Centre and any other tourist attractions.

I would love to move to Toronto, not much to listen to in Ottawa anymore.
Perhaps someday.

Move to Toronto? Bring $$$$ lots of them. To buy a home or condo, double the Ottawa price. To rent a 1 bedroom apartment triple it. Won't get into the homeless situation.

The only Fire Services in the clear are Toronto and Mississauga, Brampton. For EMS, Toronto and different GTA MOH CACC's are available to listen to, for now. If you have TETRA monitoring capabilities, TTC can provide some interesting monitoring with Transit incidents. For the most part, it is business monitoring in the clear.

Oh I'm sure there's still lots to listen to in a city the size of Ottawa. Just have to go searching for the signals. They're out there.

If you take advantage of your antenna, along with understanding distances and how signals work sometimes and not all the time.

Eastern Ontario is not all that hard to monitor.

Heh...but yes my database for my trip is loaded with Toronto and area businesses, downtown and surrounding areas.

I'm sure I'll have something to listen to.

So I don't have a lot of new findings to be honest, but I did manage to take in quite a bit of scanning time. For the setup I had stationary and while portable I was pleased with what I was able to pick up. I basically loaded everything from the database for Toronto and surrounding areas. I wasn't worried about what I wouldn't hear, I just wanted to be able to hear something.

I found talkgroup 10

I did notice an OPP Beat Repeater 03 active from downtown.

I flew back home during the snowstorm, I hope you manged to avoid it. Looks like you were hearing the Bolton/Caledon repeater. Not too shabby from downtown.

Any clues what talkgroup 10 may be?
