I use an old Panasonic Toughbook at work. While the touchscreens are cool if you're in a mobile application or using navigation software, they are otherwise not really necessary.

What do you plan on doing with your laptop? If it's a tablet, then yeah, you'll obviously need a touchscreen/digitizer. Otherwise, you might just end up paying a lot more than you needed to for a feature you don't really need.

Just my opinion.

I use a Toughbook with touchscreen and find it much more intuitive for quick selections. However, most software doesn't lend itself to using a touchscreen.

Unless you have a stupid large screen, change the resolution to a very low level, or have finger tips that look like pencils, using a touchscreen with most programmes is a PITA.

Having said that, I use mine in the car with topographic mapping software, and it is a lot easier to use a touchscreen than use the keyboard shortcuts.
