Tower near County Line & Holly

Just curious - there are a number of radio towers between County Line Rd. & C-470, between Holly St. & Colorado Blvd. Does anybody know what they are for? Are any of them towers for the state system, and if so, what is the name of that site?

I think :?: KEZW's are ON CNTY LINE RD, I wonder if this is what dodger is referring to?

In the field south of County Line Rd., a little closer to Holly than to Colorado, there are I think 4 towers. The boundary formed by Holly/Colorado and County Line/C-470 is less than 1/2 square mile. Unfortunately, there are no other streets that I can give to further break down the area. It would be Map Page 375 grid V if you have a Mapsco Atlas.

Still not sure, but if they are simply TALL mast with a shi* load of guy wires, and a small house under them, they are AM and or FM radio towers that have been there at least 40 years. When I was 17 years old, it was the BOONDOCKS where we would take our dates to park and........................

That explains it to a T. Just a bunch of those big red towers that blink on top. I don't know much about this type of thing. What do the towers for the state system look like?

Just like a regular celluar tower (I think). I'm still too poor to get into the DTRS monitoring. I sure some of the "smarter" people will add info to this posting.

There is also a tower on the south side of C-470, just east of Colorado Blvd.
This one is definitely not an AM or FM radio tower. Anyone have any guesses? I think I may have a pictue of it from a long time ago. I will try to find it and post it later on.

MCI use to have a microwave site out there on the south side. I forget the exact cross street. Seems like it was around the late 70's when they put it up, but it was long before C-470 was there. If Steve posts the picture I would probably recognize it.

The Aurora (smokey Hill) tower is located on the N.W. corner of Smokey hill and E-470. Very visible from the road. A good one to take a close look at.

The last I knw which would be about 4 years ago I think... one of the towers had a back up repeater for Civil Air Patrol.
