Good info, I've never tried listening to tow companies before. I guess I just assumed they mostly used Nextel.

I've never tried it either. Not much activity now, but I'll keep it stored in a v folder for the next bad weather event.

For that matter, I've never listened to any of those local LTR systems. I programmed a bunch of the other talkgroups for those systems as well, something to mess around with later on one of my long drives to the other side of the metro.

Hi guys, sorry to dust off this old thread.....

I have a question that I can't seem to find the answer to. I have a PRO-197 scanner and I am familiar with scanning the state wide ARMER P25 system, but how do I program the Ancom LTR system? I guess what I'm really wondering is what frequencies do I enter when programming with WIN500? I haven't seen them listed anywhere. (just talk groups like the ones listed in this thread)

Also, does anyone have a newer updated talk group list for towing companies. (or any other companies that may be using Ancom)

Thanks in advance!

Some of those systems have probably switched to TRBO, and as far as I know they don't make a scanner for that format yet.

There was a guy a year or two ago that was unhappy with RR.com Live Audio admin because he was running DSD (Digital Speech Decoder) on the MotoTRBO Ancom system and wanted it streamed on RR because of its novelty. The stream is down now, but it sounded pretty decent.

Hi guys,

If I suspected a company was on the ANCOM system, how would I go about finding their talk groups? Could I program the frequencies that stmills posted and set some sort of a wildcard and then listen for that specific company?

I understand how the P25 ARMER system functions but this ANCOM deal has me confused a little bit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Enter the Ancom system into your scanner. Then monitor the system in open or search mode and see what you find.
You will find a large number of talkgroups used by schools buses, couriors and trash companies.
