Is it me or does the 470.5875 frequency sound like garbage?

Obvious it's linked to the OC911 EMS response channel. But it sounds like they took a analog radio and tied it directly to a P25 radio.

It sounds like garbage on both my pro197 and my Astro Saber.

That's exactly what they did. It sounds a "little" better going from P25 to analog, but when the dispatcher talks it is just horrible.

Their "Town" channel in pure P25 sounds great. I believe it comes off both the Putnam and Bull Pond sites simultaneously.

County took down the EMS Response repeater on top of the West Point Ski Slope and now have a repeater over on Putnam as well. I don't know why TH EMS doesn't switch back to VHF now. That tower covers very well into their area, especially on VHF. Any areas which may be a little shady can get coverage off Beacon to the north and Arden to the south if needed.

My recommendation to them was put a P25 UHF radio into the 911 center just for them on their channel. Instead of the dispatcher selecting the Putnam tower, they can just select their channel. Middlehope FD has their own private channel for fire control, why can't others right?

Well I guess that would make to much sense, to had a UHF P25 radio into the console. Probably would of been cheaper and easier to do. Sometimes you can make out what they are saying and other times it sounds like a angry Donald Duck.

If anyone wants to hear what this sounds like and doesn't have a scanner or radio that does P25 just listen to the SUNY New Paltz PD talk group on edacs that is linked into their trbo system sounds just like it.
