I’m a newbie ORF. ( Old retired fart ). I live under the flight routes of the Townsend Bombing Range, in SE Georgia. Also a lot of fighter jets in groups of two to six planes doing training. I understand several military bases us this area for training. I would love to be able to monitor them. I have an old but operable AOR AR 1000 XLT scanner. Can anyone help with what freqs they may be using. I am kind of overwhelmed with the info available on the internet. Thank you.

The range frequencies for Townsend Range are:

119.225 – Townsend Range/Coastal MOA
228.400 – Townsend Range/Coastal MOA
252.900 – Townsend Range/Coastal MOA
226.975 – Townsend Range/Coastal MOA
269.350 – Coastal MOA

228.400 and 252.900 are the most frequently used with 228.400 being the primary range check-in frequency. Townsend Range is operated by the USMC and primarily used by the F/A-18s and F-35s at MCAS Beaufort. It is also used by F-16s from Shaw AFB and Joint Base McEntire, A-10s from Moody AFB, and other aircraft from throughout the region. I have a page on my blog that lists frequencies that might be used for air-to-air traffic between the aircraft using the range and some of the callsigns they use: MilAir

I split time between Savannah and Brunswick and listen from both locations, so if you're in Wayne County you should be able to hear some of the same things I do. I do a monthly post on my blog of what I've heard the previous month and the one for June is at Coastal Georgia Military Monitoring Recap; June 2019

You can take a look at it and it will give you an idea of what's out there to hear MilCom-wise in Coastal Georgia.

Mac. Thanks for the reply. I really appreciate it. These guys fly over my house almost on a daily basis. Can’t wait to monitor them. I’ll check out your blog, and again, thank you. Safe travels on I-95.
