I dug up an old TCSO list from Feb 2006:

I was wondering the same thing since I was hearing so many new call signs so I got a dispatcher to get me a complete list.

Adam Midnight Shift Patrol
Baker Day Shift Patrol
Charlie- Civil deputies but often respond to calls
David- Transportation ( mentals and incoming prisoners)
Delta DA's Investigators
Edward Evening Shift Patrol
Frank Deputies in the FTO program
Henry Domestic Violence Task Force
Ida Internal Affairs
John Jail Units (mostly only supervisors have call signs)
King Court Guards but some some speciality units are in there Including court services (newday)
Lincoln Captains
Mary traffic units
Nora reserved for TPR when using county freqs
Ocean records
Paul administrative services ie training, human resources, so forth
Queen not used
Robert Mostly reserve deputies. If using a 1 or 2 digit call sign it is a full time deputy who is over the
like R10, R4 so on a reserve is his badge number such as R513
Sam Command level staff
Tom Jail transportation ie from the jail to the courthouse
Union no longer used
Victor Vo-tech units
William not used
Xray community policing
Young not used
Zebra investigations


They told me that is only for now as they are gettin ready to change how they do it to identify the shift.

A new one that I've heard recently has been "COS". Could be common in other places, but I'd never heard it until a month or so ago.

A new one that I've heard recently has been "COS". Could be common in other places, but I'd never heard it until a month or so ago.

COS = Check to Own Satisfaction. Basically, if you hear someone say "COS for a hillbilly chasing a sheep near the 1300 block of Oakhurst drive" then dispatch wants the officer to just drive by, if he has time, and see if he can find out what's going on. It's about the lowest priority call one can get.


COS can also mean Check On Shrek and in that case, various folks are wanting someone to make sure I'm OK. It's like the Shrek version of a 10-90 (check on well being of an officer in most places).

No Gang units?

OKC CSI

Tulsa County has a Deputy or two assigned to the Tulsa Police Gangs Unit. They work together on issues in both the city and county. I don't think that the county has their own individual unit.

I checked with a friend of mine who gave me the list. He said all investigators gang, cid or otherwise use the zebra designator. He said supposedly they are assigning several more investigators to the gang unit.

actually their is some changes being put in place over the weekend regarding beats. I'll update you again ASAP

UPDATE- changes for 8/31/08

*** TPD has redone the days off for officers, and how the beats will be covered. This change will allow an entire patrol "platoon" (formerly squad) to have the same days off (all Adam officers will be off on the same day, etc.). This is supposedly to promote stronger teams and will allow a platoon a day of training day every 3 weeks. The new system will have a platoon cover 2 squads everyday. I've highlighted any changes in red, and will work on a new beat map showing the platoons. ALL BEATS WILL STAY THE SAME, NON-UNIFORM OFFICERS WILL NOT BE EFFECTED. THIS NEW FORMAT IS **SUPPOSED* TO GO INTO EFFECT AT MIDNIGHT SUNDAY 8/31/08.
