Just heard a few mins ago (8AM-3/16) on all dispatch talkgroup dispatch, that TPD will
be on "back-up" radios, unable to patch, or use tones.....Anyone know what's up?

The dispatchers have been testing the radios to the officers for about an hour now.

Able to hear all traffic, however.

Unlike the promised "reason units don't run with lights on during chases"

I never promised anything Ray. I ASKED if anyone knew what the reason was. Now I'll ask you. Do you know what the logic is? Why do you bring it up anyway? If I didn't know better, you seem like someone who has something to prove. :) Get to it.Your statement kind of takes this thread in a new direction, but feel free to start a new one. See you there.

running w/out lights during a pursuit may convince some criminals to slow down, thinking the cops arent after them anymore, therefore slowing down the chase and reducing the impact of a collision if one occurs. when youre being chased and you see the lights and hear the sirens it keeps your blood pumpin and your mind more intent on getting away. officers hope by shutting off their emerg equip it will slow the bad guys down. this is usually only done by tpd once the helicopter gets on scene and has the flir on the car. i consider this a somewhat reasonable tactic yet it could possibly qualify as political correctness....lol!
