Tpd Special Assignment

I am listening to TPD radio traffic between 6 & 9 PM and I hear some units from Uniform Division East saying that they are on special assignment. Anyone have a clue as to what they are assigned to?

Ahhh that varies from day to day. It could be as simple as guard duty at a hospital or school or store to undercover opps or running a speed trap etc. It just depends.

99% of the time a special assignment isn't anything "special", Like PJ said it could be anything but really only lets dispatch know they won't be available on regular shift.

Due to the new platoons, once a week each uniform Division will have 3 squads on instead of the regular 2. The 3rd squad will be usually doing training, warrant service, etc. which was the case last night. (they were all on 7F/31152)

Thanks for the info guys. It sort of sounded like the were doing a warrant sweep or some sort of drug sting. Lots of activity on TAC talkgroups. Much more interesting than listening to guards delivering food at the jail .
