Now that I'm cursed to have to use the DC beltway to help get me to work, I wonder if any of the traffic reporters are still scannable, or have they all gone to Sprint/NexHell? For example, I know many years ago Metro Traffic was on 455.9125 (as a reverse pair, no less); are there others that are still on regularly?

best regards..Mike

Yea Mike, still very active. Also still using the 455.9125/141.3 frequency. While I was just listening to them this morning, the mobiles normally get "follow-up" assignments to tips received via other means, but, they also still call in what they see as they go as well.

Gracias Dewey - time to plug that one back in. Any others that are still up and around? In the distant memory here, SmartTraveler used to have some 460 mhz frequencies they used, and I seem to recall something in the 161 mhz area.

It wouldn't surprise me if most have gone to NexHell...73 Mike

So far, nada on the Fleet Talk system, although I admit I can't monitor it from home, so it's nowhere near conclusive. Metro continues to be the best source - and I'm surprised that after all these years I still recognize some of the voices...best regards..Mike

I think that they're just a quiet group, or may have moved to something like Nextel. After seeing Dave's post, I programmed FleetTalk into my units. Anytime I try something new, I normally set it to search the entire system to ensure that I have it programmed right and receiving. Well, I'm hearing the system on the 396XT with the RS 800 antenna all the way down at the PG/Charles Co line, but the only thing I'm hearing is the cement truck and transportation ops.

I live in a first floor condo in Bowie and even with a Condor I can't hear that system reliably while I'm at home. Bad spot I guess. Of course the construction of the condo doesn't help either, as well as the fact that I'm surrounded by trees...best regards..Mike
