Train Fire in Lamar County

A Norfolk Southern train engine caught fire near Purvis. The train was able to get the engine close to Main St. in downtown Purvis so the Fire Dept could get to it. The Fire Dept had trouble getting water because there were no fire hydrents near the railroad tracks. Neighboring VFD's sent their Water Tanker trucks to assist the Purvis Fire Dept. As of now, the one engine is totaly involved in flames.

I wonder if someone got any photos of this event? Does the local newspaper have a Web site there?

I don't think they have a newspaper in Purvis. The closest one would be in Hattiesburg. They may have something on it tomorrow or Monday.
