i have a tram 1411 discone antenna, and on the cone section two of the members are longer and the directions dont say anywhere how these are suposed to be positioned and what function they server. any insight would be helpful, thank you.
They resonate within a specific frequency range. Discone antennas cover a very wide spectrum of frequencies. It does not matter what position they are placed in since it is an omni-directional antenna. The longer elements are for lower frequencies.
The tram 1411 is a very nice antenna but it didn't work for me.
I bought it from buytwowayradios.com
I NOW have a Yagi coming with 11db gain I got off eBay coming, guess I will see if that works.
I'm told I'm getting RF from a cell tower across the field from where I live and a direction antenna is my only hope to receive simulcast in Wichita.
