• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I absolutely love my two Tram magnet mount antennas. I first bought the 300, and having been so impressed with it, I ordered the 3500.

The 300 is basically a Little Wil with a Tram badge, and the 3500 is the Wilson 1000 equivalent. They were $29.99 and $39.99, respectively. Prices have gone up some, however.

The 300 is now $33.99 and the 3500 is $49, in best deal scenarios.

These antennas perform exceptionally well. I regularly talk mobile to base in distances that are 30 minutes away. In some instances I make some great mobile to mobile a similar distance.

Last night I was coming back to Mount Vernon, Ohio from Nashport, Ohio. I made contact with two bases in Newark, Ohio and talked to them all the way back to my city. There was another guy out there who was further than they were and we talked as I was just outside my city.

I regularly get told how good my mobile rig performs. And it's a mere Maxon MCB-30 that's tiny. I've been told, "you could tell me you're on a Connex and I'd believe you."

I put both on my car for a photographic comparison. Since getting the 3500, I put the 300 on my twin sons Blazer. They run my Realistic TRC-216 handheld with an external mic and antenna adapter, and even at half power, I talk to them from their grandma's driveway to my house, they're throwing me a 5db carrier swinging 7db, and their grandma lives 5.5 miles away in a valley.

If you want Wilson quality for less money, these antennas are the answer.

While that may be impressive, we will not know. I doubt anybody outside the area of the towns you mention have any clue as to how many miles apart they are. I can talk from my mobile in Mountain park to a base in Wilkesboro - do you know if that is good or not?

Why would you make everybody look it up, when you could just insert the approximate mileage. I'm just trying to be helpful in having you word your post so it will be understood by those who read it and will then reply.
Now that I can identify what you are referring to, that IS impressive. Makes me want to get a Tram now.

Yes, I looked them up. Have a look two posts up. Took me 30 seconds.

And I'm not "making" anyone look anything up. If they are interested in the antenna enough so, they'd probably map it, or simply ask without being a prick 🤷‍♂️

Or, they'd get the point by reading the post.

Miserable people always crack me up, always looking for something to complain about.

Non-sarcastic/non A-hole response to my post:

"So how far apart is that in miles?"

Me: "Excellent question and sorry I omitted it. Here's a Google Maps perspective."

There, I revised the scenario with a more courteous approach.
