I have a GRE PSR800 and have scanned FRS/GMRS frequencies but would like to take the found frequency and input it into a Moto FRS/GMRS handheld once found as to be easier on my PSR800 batteries.

Then I can use the Motorola radio for basic listening.

I can see on a Moto manual the main frequencies but how do the interfernce codes come into play....if at all???

There are 54 ctcss tones, also known as PL tones and Digital pl tones, also known as DPL of which there are 104 and these do not need to be programmed in just to listen. These tones are only intended to stop interference issues. ;)
