Need some help. I just returned from a trip in the area of brevard, nc and have always listened to transylvania County Fire, but the lst couple of trips haven't herad anything. I can pick up pd and sd on their freqs. with no problem.

I've checked my info and rechecked against the RR Database and everything is the same. Does anyone have updated or new info?

Thanks.

Trans county Fire

I've done some looking around since I posted the earlier request and found the following.

The 151.3100 that they are set up for is being licensed by the state forestry dept.

City of brevard listed under KVD522 is 457.9570 but only listed as fx1
Trans. County FD under KNID889 is 453.4250, 460.350, 458.4250.

Rosman fire rescue inc is KNCP890 458.1500......

Anyhow still looking.

NC Forest Service has been licensed for 151.310 for several years and that freq is currently used in District 12 and in District 5, but the D12 freq is scheduled to change in the next few months, and it will be narrow band. Over the next coupla years, the whole NCFS radio system will become narrow band, at least that's the goal. Guess we'll see how the legislature feels about that. The forest services in all states always seem to be the bastard children at the family reunion when it comes to funding time.

For those of us in D12's area, if you find out any info please pass it along. I've started to rather enjoy listening to them. It almost makes me yo get geared up and go out there again. Almost

Until this past Wednesday, I was aware of only three D12 repeater sites on 151.310 / 100.0 ... Barium Springs, Spencer Mountain and Monroe.

Wednesday morning, I heard "Mountain 2" talking with another unit. The latter unit I-D'd as operating off the Spencer Mountain site. "Mountain 2" said he was using the Biggerstaff (Polk County) site. I wasn't aware of this site on 151.310 previously.

Grog - The new repeater output for the D-12 repeaters is / will be 151.3625 MHz (tone not I-D'd yet). It appears the input will remain 159.465 (100.0).

The previous license covering the repeaters on 151.310 has already been removed from the FCC database.

The new license - callsign WQBT655 - includes 50-watt sites in Cabarrus and Rutherford Counties, and a 150-watt site in Alexander County.

The Alexander County (Taylorsville) site is incorrectly listed as Transylvania County.

The Cabarrus County (Concord) site is also a location for a 50-watt repeater on 151.4525 MHz, which will be part of the repeaters used to the east and northeast of Mecklenberg County.

The new license covering 151.3625 does not include a site near Monroe. I don't know if I was mistaken about such a site being used under the previous license on 151.310 MHz.

I hear the repeater output tone for D12 should remain 100.0 hz, the Union site was removed a year or so ago in favor of the UNCTV Stonewall tower site in Cabarrus, the Alexander site is on Linney Mtn, and the proposed site on Biggerstaff is now a reality cuz you just confirmed it. There are some other districts that will be changing to new narrow band channels soon, D10 may go to 151.3475 (PL 131.8 hz), and D3 to 151.4525 (PL change to 88.5). Looks like the rest will be keep their current freqs but will be going narrow band.

As to what the situation freq wise in Transylavania may be, I have no info to toss in. Those that may know or find out, keep us posted.

One other note ... while looking at the NCFS licenses this morning, I noticed that the FS has a pending modification on their statewide callsign (WPGM564).

Among the frequencies covered for temporary repeater and mobile use are 171.575 and 172.275 MHz, which I hadn't noticed previously.

From what I hear, the license mod is to add 11K (narrowband) to the existing 20K (wideband) modulation for a phase-out schedule for the wideband. Just hearsay and a little assumption on my part based on knowledge of what's going on in the industry and throughout the government freqs.
