Traveling question

I'm just wondering how many out there take along the scanners on a road trip,just asking cause I will be doing it this weekend I have the 96 and 97 loaded up

Whenever I get in the car, I will have at least two scanners and usually three. If I am going to be traveling by car, I have at least three scanners, the CB, radar detector, FRS/GMRS radio and the XM (for when there is nothing else to listen to).

I will set one scanner up just to scan the CB and FRS/GMRS channels, another on the pre-programmed/loaded police and fire search banks. Then a third that I have loaded with state and local PD/FD's along the way.

Probably a good thing I am single, or maybe that is the reason I am.

I pass through the towns so fast that its impossible to scan. I will usually get a fire or police in the city that I am staying at.
Ukkkk...LEH, you have XM, I have Sirius, Sirius next to XM is like a midget next to Shaq. Sirius has far more interesting channels and better music

and also LEH, i've been to yorktown, Williamsburg, Jamestown Historic area twice so far. great place down there, at least you dont get as much snow and weathers nice there

First of all, Sirius and XM merged, It's now SIRIUSXM Satellite Radio.. But I agree, Sirius is still better, I too have that, Everytime I get in the car I have one scanner locally but on long road trips like tomarrow for example..I always have at least two scanners with me along with the Sirius Satellite Radio, Radar Detector and Cell Phone, But to the OP, Yes I always have at least two Scanners with me, Sometimes depending on the vehicle, maybe Three..

The area is lovely. I moved here about 12 years ago and I've loved it.

Brian, yes unfortunately, I know that Sirius and XM have merged.

As to which is better, like the which is better the 396 or the 500, that is a matter of personal choice. I had the opportunity to listen to both before I made my choice and obviously Sirius was not it. They did not have as good a choice for the type of music I listen to as did XM.
