Greetings,

I will be traveling to Louisville KY in early March and was wondering if you guys have any good freq's for my BCT-15. Also any good 2 Meter HAM Freqs would be awesome. I am driving from El Paso, TX and looking for something to listen to when I get there also. I've looked here in the Database but was wondering which ones would be good... I like Police & Aircraft if thats possible. Dont have digital capabilities. Looking forward to the SWEET TEA when I get there. Thanks Friends...

McDonald's has sweet tea... can't speak for how good it is...
All the frequencies are accurate for Louisville... Also quite up to date. There are a few unidentified, mostly feds not listed yet.
There is some UHF Air frequency activity from the National Guard. Some from Southern Indiana as well. Right now most radios are analog conventional, so no problems with the BCT-15.

If you are a little more specific as to what part of Louisville you'll be visiting, I and others can give you suggestions, or a BCD396 file to convert. It is now a Metro government, but the city (Police) remains on UHF and the County is on VHF, same for the fire operations. The airport has an old Type IIi analog trunking system for operations and crash response.
EMS is UHF.
Any questions feel free to ask.

Thanks for the reply. I noticed that KY seems to be in the middle of 4 states I think it was. I am going to be off of Bunsen Parkway in Louisville Zip 40220. I will be 10 miles east of downtown Louisville,
and approximately 15 miles from Louisville International Airport.

Ok, Jeffersontown and St Matthews would be your target according to google, that is out in the County. Louisville is borders on Indiana, New Albany, Clarksville, Jeffersonville, New Albany is LTR 800Mhz, Clarksville is VHF fire/UHF police, Jeff is VHF fire/Safe-T trunking for police.

Lyndon Fire Department would be the FD for where you are staying I believe. They are on the VHF County system.
Police I believe is: Jefferson County Police, Adam District, not 100% sure, but close, there are others on here that would know for certain. VHF also.
Bowman field is where Statcare fly's out of, and they have a UHF tower frequency that has some traffic. (Bowman Tower 257.6250) Active light airplane airport. You should be close enough to get Sandiford field, SDF ANG 268.1000, SDF Approach 327.0000

Newsalan Thank You... I have a bunch programmed and using my search 1,2,3 selections to do some MOT CNTRL Channel scanning for Trunked systems I may not have gotten. Thanks for you help my friend.
I'll let you know how it turns out. Just by chance I am wondering if Mobile Scanners are Legal in KY?
I just thought about it, I'm going to need to make sure that they are legal through , Tennesse, Arkansas, Mississippi. I almost forgot... I would hate to loose my scanner or worse yet, go to jail !!

Welcome to the Bluegrass State.... I am going assume that you might be a Ham given the Yaesu listed in your signature.... If you are make sure you have a copy of your Ham ticket with you, makes things a little easier sometimes. PM me with an email address and I'll send you a copy of the Kentucky Scanner Law.....

Alan you are close on several things...lol...Just busting your chops...

The fire department is Middletown and is dispatched on 154-445 and go responding on 154-250 (this applies for all fire departments east of I64). Yellow EMS is the EMS that covers Jeffersontown and they work off 452.300. The police department for Bunsen is Jeffersontown Police with freq of 460.300. Louisville Metro Police 8th Division covers just north of where you will be and they operate on 154.860. With I-64 being right out your window, LMPD Traffic handles accidents along that route and work off a bridge channel of 155.580 / 460.475.

If you are going to be there on a Sunday, and are really bored, you can listen to Six Flags over Jesus also known as Southeast Christian Church which is just north across the expressway, I can get you the freq for them as well.

Hope this helps, if you need anymore let me know.

Doug

Strong 2m Freqs are 146.700 (SKYWARN) and 147.030(RACES) as well as Shelbyville of 147.000. I think Oldham County has one as well, 147.090

Doug,

That's why I only visit KY and don't live there ;)
I just listen, don't keep up with the fine details, except for the 1st & 2nd divisions downtown where my wife works.

There are three interesting trunked systems, the old analog Metro system, RCS or Louisville two-way and the RCS system located in Indiana, it's on a great big hill, as you travel I-64 through the city, look North and you'll see all kinds a radio towers; look to the South and the big hole in the ground is the new arena project.

And Ky does not like scanners, though I've had no problems, I carry mine into Fourth St Live and other places, but act like it's a radio I supposed to be carrying. Even in the VA hospital, no problems. And I do keep the volume down. I do keep a copy of my license in my truck, because Indiana doesn't like scanners either.
