Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry9530/5.0.0.328 Profile/MIDP-2.1 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

Manhattan is also known as New York County, which is how I believe they are listed in the RR database. You'll want PD, FD and EMS frequencies for that county / borough (Manhattan). I hope this makes sense. Feel free to PM me if you need additional assistance and be sure to follow FLRAILMAN's advice above. Have a great visit and happy listening. You're scanner will be going non-stop 24 hrs a day!

Help with question

I would like to purchase a handheld scanner to listen to NYPD and PAPD in the Manhattan South area. Uniden tells me that in order to purchase the right scanner I need to know what trunking system the NYPD uses-digital and/or analog as well as the company that provides the service, etc. Can anyone provide the correct info. Thanks.

NYPD does not use trunking; they are using UHF conventional. The PAPD is using an EDACS-wide system on the 800 band.
