Hello everyone,

New-ish to the scene (although I had a PRO 2006 back in the day) and was wondering how best to approach traveling through different states along the East Coast on a regular basis whilst using my new Whistler WS1080. What's the best way to set up this scanner to switch to new listening areas as I pass through them without too much hassle and taking eyes off the road? I had looked into the 436HP with GPS attached, but wasn't sure if this was an option with the Whistler.

Would love to know how to do this.

Thanks!
John

I have no personal experience doing what you are asking but I think setting up each state or region in banks and loading a series of banks as you approach that region would work. You could open up the next group as you move north when you stop at rest areas. Time consuming but worth the trouble I would think.

I used my 800 in the same fashion last year. But, also used my 396XT.
The 800 was used traveling through one state, and basically for monitoring when I got to my final destination. The user interface is not really set up for mobile operation.
The 396 was the 'go to' scanner, because a simple one or two pushes of a button/buttons made it easier when behind the wheel.
Know, saying that, you can set up scan sets that can cover different states or areas, and is a lot easier to manipulate while driving.
That would be the way to go.

I plan ahead and program the areas to be passed through on my trip. I then create scanlists the follow the order of my route of travel. Fairly easy to enable and disable the appropriate list (s) as I go.
