I went to Travis on 8/26 for a quick bit of plane spotting on a quick stopover to another final destination. I was there from about noon until 5pm. I brought my Pro-96 and my BC-246T. I wanted to bring my BCD-396T, but it was on the FedEx truck and didn't make it before I had to leave.
I admit I'm not really into to writing down all of the details of the stuff I hear. I'm more into verifying the radio traffic. Part of the motivatoin was to get a preview for the upcoming airshow.
My first location was here:

It was good for watching the planes leaving Rwy 21R. The biggest problems was that it was HOT. There was no shade. Then, I went:

At approximately the point where the line between the shading. There are some trees on the south side of the road that provide shade from the sun.
As I said earlier, I wanted to bring the 396T to see how it'd do on the Travis TRS. It didn't make it, so I had to use my trusty Pro-96. With a Diamond RH-77CCA antenna it managed to pull in the system from the Benicia bridge. I had programmed the radio according to the config on radioreference.com:

I also monitored the old analog conventional channels that were listed in Bob Kelty's Monitoring the Military (1991) along with some additions from material from Grove's Military frequency guide. There was no activity. Perhaps they may dust off these radios for the airshow?
While the Pro-96 was kept busy with the BC-246 was scanning the old analog radios mentioned above, the VHF airband and Close Call. The only Close Call hits were the occasional VHF airband from airplanes in the pattern. There was no new information from these close call hits.
Below is a frequency table I found on the web. The 'usual suspects' were active (e.g. Tower, Ground, etc). In addition I heard traffic on:
349.4 AMC Command Post
139.9 (AM) Tower Multi function
294.7 Discrete/Radar Approach
I'll be scrubbing my configs and will post something for the BC-246T, BCD-396T and Pro-96 before the upcoming airshow.
