I noticed Trenton fire dept and TEMS starting to use Xts2500's Is there a plan to start switching to P-25 and moving away from VSELP or is there a flash or firmware to have VSELP in a 2500.
Thanks in advance

FD & EMS have traditionally been analog, and I wouldn't expect that to change. The system can't support operating as both P25 & VSELP simultaneously.

No. The ASTRO Saber & ASTRO Spectra were the last radios made that supported VSELP (if I remember correctly).

Thanks for the follow-up Mike. I had wondered about them, because I have never actually seen one that did (they were all IMBE). There's a seller every year at the Timonium, MD hamfest that has a 3000 with MODAT he uses to chat with his friends, and I wonder if that is that version...

Modat can be in any XTS3000 regardless of vocoder.

I have an early xts3000 that was vselp.

Had it reflashed to imbe years ago.
