I am looking for advice on an old Trio R600 which seems dead on all frequency's. I have static on the speaker and the frequency changes on am and ssb through the range but I cannot pick up any stations on any band. I am currently running a 40 m cable as the Ariel. What I did find by accident was that on connecting the Ariel to the mute line on the back The radio burst into life with talk radio on all frequencies displayed on am but not on ssb....strange. I dismantled the radio checking all connections reassembled with the same fault evident...may end up selling as spares if I cannot resolve. Any help would be appreciated

I would suggest you have a Mod move this thread to the HF/MW/LW Equipment forum as the R600 is an HF-only receiver. Clicking on "Report" will allow you to request the move. Good luck, and welcome to RadioReference.

Check the fuse on the circuit board near the antenna socket and the relay contact across the 4.7kohm resistor.
