What's the difference between these 2, Amazon.com: Uniden BC346XT Handheld TrunkTracker III Analog Police Scanner: Electronics and Amazon.com: Uniden BCD396XT Handheld TrunkTracker IV Digital Police Scanner: Electronics What I want to know is can I get the 346 and it still be good for picking up digital as well as the 396? I want to buy the 346 to save money if I don't have to buy the 396 to pick up the same type of digital channels.

No. The main difference between the 346 and 396 is that the 396 get digital and analog, while the 346 only gets analog.

The 396XT can decode APCO 25 voice and also track Project 25 Phase 1 systems and also do all of what the 346XT can do.
