I have been searching for the frequencies for Triple W Airport and I can't find them on the Wake County, NC, data base page on here either. I was given these 4 frequencies and was wondering if anyone knew anything about them or even if they are acurate. 122.7 | 119.025 | 120.225 | 120.625

Thanks,
Victor

AirNav: 5W5 - Triple W Airport

Look under the "Airport Communications" section about the middle of the page.

122.700 = CTAF (Common Traffic Advisory Frequency) Any movement at the field, landing or departing, is called out on this frequency.

The remaining 3 frequencies are for AWOS (Automated Weather Observation Station) frequencies, I'm almost positive that these broadcast weather conditions, but I'm not for sure... (My home airport uses ATIS, so I'm not familiar with AWOS)

Point being, I would concentrate on 122.700 to keep up with what's going on around the airfield, and keep the 3 weather freqs locked out, so they're not constantly going off, but are there if you want to check for weather advisories or NOTAMS.

Hope this helps!

The simple version is that ATIS is manually derived observations by humans that are then recorded for pilot use. It may be a human or computer voice, but human observation. AWOS, I believe, uses special sensors that automatically observe the weather and then records it for our listening pleasure. Also You won't get terminal information (duty runway, approaches in use, etc) from AWOS as it's not necessarily tied to an airport.

Since I travel to the Triple W Airport area regularly I will try to see if I can't get a verified freq find and update the database.

Victor: If you are able to verify frequency usage please let me know. :)
Thanks!

Why won't they repave that place and fix it up a bit? Always wondered about that...

Below is the current information for this airport. It's been years since I've flown in there, but this data is current.

If you are interested in monitoring local traffic in and out, use 122.7. It is an uncontrolled field so you will only receive the aircraft announcing their intentions.

CTAF 122.7
UNICOM 122.7
PCL 122.7

Enjoy!

Thanks Donnie :)

Will see about getting the airport added to the database for future reference.
