Troop 2B Coverage - Hwy24 west - Ute Pass, WP

Anyone know of alternate freqs/IDs for Hwy 24 west of Colorado Springs. In town, my reception is great, but as soon as I get into Manitou, nothing till GMF. I often pass troopers working the pass, but nothing on the Pro-2096. Loaded CCs and IDs from RR, even tried open mode a few times. Sometimes I catch air units on 155.505. Maybe they still use an old VHF freq instead of DTRS for better reception in the pass.

Don't know if this will help or hurt, but I know you will not get anything on the C/S trunked system or the State DTRS through about the Manitou Exit up untill a little past the GMF. When we used to run calls through there we would just have to "wing it" maybe it would work maybe it wouldn't. We would use a UHF repeater we had set up for that area. But as far as Highway Patrol I don't know what they are using, I would check the old VHF frequencies for through there.

2B Troopers in eastern El Paso and Teller counties are on DTRS 2B dispatch. They're on Cheyenne Mtn (868.050) in the Manitou-to-GMF area, same as the guys in the Springs. It's just that the coverage has some dead spots. I haven't noticed them having too much trouble though. I think they have better reception than our scanners. While 2B dispatch often broadcasts simo DTRS/VHF, I haven't heard the CSP cars on VHF up here in months.

In the Woodland Park area, CSP may be on Cheyenne Mtn, Westcreek or Lake George towers.
