FYI:
As of today, Troop C is now using the location of Weldon Springs as their dispatch site. This is also where the new Troop HQ is being relocated to. I imagine the switch was this morning, since yesterday they were still using the phrase "Kirkwood State". This morning I heard them refer to themselves as "Weldon Springs State".

They were testing the new dispatch consoles last week and were also refering to them as "weldon springs state" at that time. They were using 246HP as the test car to drive around and test the coverage.

I believe they have now switched all dispatching to the new facility and at this time are using the same FCC callsign. I guess they are keeping all their existing radio towers in place with some sort of internet/hard line link to the new dispatch center.

I have also heard them scheduling meetings at the new Troop C in the past 3 weeks. Although up until about a week ago they were dispatching "The XYZ meeting has been relocated to the old Troop C".

I haven't been by the new facility since last week so I'm not sure if all OPS have been moved to the new location or not.

Thanks for the update! And who would want to say "Weldon Spring State" anyway... don't they havea "Willow Spring State" also... talk about confusing lol

I've heard many of the similar broadcasts as you have over the past week or so. Not sure how they are hitting the existing towers, they do have a 50ft tower behind the new HQ with a couple small antennas and what looks like a microwave dish on it as well, might be just a backup RF link tho.

I drive by there on the way home from work, it doesnt appear that all of ops has moved over as of yet.
Im curious to see if they have an open house to show off the new place, be kinda neat to check out the comm area.

The "Weldon Springs State" doesnt roll of the tongue as easily "Kirkwood State" did. I did hear a few dispatchers today correct themselves midsentence today.

I wasn't aware of the new tower. Thanks for passing along that info!

I haven't personally noticed a change in the signal strength as I drive about the metro area. I wonder how many of the old towers they will keep operational? I've also heard more activity on 42.12mhz which I use to seldom hear in use. I also noticed that in the past few weeks they would have to shutdown one of the channels and move everyone onto 1 frequency. Perhaps that was to link up the new tower.

Thanks for the update!

I think they should keep it Kirkwood State.......the "old" building wasn't in Kirkwood and they still referred to it as Kirkwood State....

Anyone notice the new remote link in Florissant? Strangely i already had that frequency programmed into my scanners as it is also listed as a Troop C mobile extender frequency.

I haven't been into the North County area so i'm not sure if the new frequency is active yet or if it is easily picked up.

Anyone in that area know?

Thanks

Hmm my scanner did go off the other day (396 with alert on extenders), but figured it was just a Trooper in the area. Not sure if that was it or one of my neighbors, but interesting find!

Did you catch the "Air to Car" traffic last week? I couldnt catch the aircraft unit number, so Im not sure if it was 95MP or a plane, but they were running traffic on 70 in Lake St. Louis. It sounded like they were shooting fish out of a barrel.

I agree!
Actually, I always wondered if it was actually in Kirkwood at one time?
I know the old MODOT was at one time so maybe they had a common transmitter site in Kirkwood back in the days?

I've worked near the old Troop C building for the last 29 years and it has not moved until now too my knowledge.

Anyone have any history on Troop C?

I hear 95MP and 96MP a lot doing speed enforcement. I didn't hear the Lake St. Louis traffic in particular but they were out near Hwy 79 checking speed on I-70 westbound about an hour ago.

Troop C was located in Kirkwood although i don't recall the exact location.

Here is your Troop C history, the info is probably located in there:
http://www.mshp.dps.missouri.gov/MS...adquarters/TroopC/documents/TroopCHistory.pdf

Its in pdf format and available by going to the MSHP main page, clicking on Troop C and then finding the history link.

I caught the traffic this afternoon as well. I was in St. Peters and caught most of the it. They were using a plane this afternoon, I saw them on my way back towards Wentzville around 1:45. Troops were set up on the westbound ramp from 79 onto 70. The plane was focused on 70 between 79 and T.R. Hughes.
