I can confirm that SP Poughkeepsie is using 110.9 from both their primary tower and secondary tower. I will continue to monitor for other barracks to see if additional ones are also using 110.9.

NYSP has requested the radio shops doing the fall pm checks to program troop with a transmit pl of 110.9 while doing there pm's then as the new m-7100 radios are being installed they will go back a 2nd time and program it on the rx side then the radio shops will add it to the rx side on the spring pm checks.

Still CSQ on 155.5050 up here in Columbia Co. Although when Livingston transmits on Car to Car (154.6650) there is now PL 110.9. They were CSQ on transmit as of about a month ago.

I might be wrong, but I always thought that the mobiles transmitted PL so that the channel could be reused on L.I. without Troop K having to listen. When I used to maintain Westchester Counties radios I peeked into NYSP's old MASTR II bases at a common site and they all had PL boards in them. Well it's about time they went PL, it's tough sometimes listening with all the interference when you have to monitor in CSQ.

No, you are not wrong. Mobiles statewide always transmitted a CTCSS on all the frequencies programmed into them. The receive side of the channel was always carrier squelch. The changes that are being implemented now are to put CTCSS tones on the base transmit side. I suspect that at some time in the future this will allow for the rx side on the mobiles to be closed with a PL.

Typical Troop F mobile set-up:

154.935 (127.3) tx / 155.535 (csq) - Zone 1
154.935 (146.2) tx / 155.535 (csq) - Zone 2
154.935 (167.9) tx / 155.535 (csq) - Zone 3
154.665 (110.9) tx / 154.665 (csq) - Car-to-car
154.695 (110.9) tx / 154.695 (csq) - State
155.565 (79.7) tx / 155.565 (csq) - Tac
155.370 (110.9) tx / 155.370 (csq) - Statewide

You're not kidding about tough listening in CSQ. Statewide (155.370) is impossible to monitor from a base station in the Mid-Hudson Valley with the way Middletown, CT booms in on that frequency.

Does anyone in the listening area know of any Troop K bases not yet transmitting with the 110.9 PL on 155.505?

I'd like to add the PL to the DB, but obviously that can't be done until we're certain all base stations/barracks are using the PL.

When I get home I'll throw my scanner on Troop K base and see if a PL Pops up.
