I was wondering why I haven't heard this repeater in a while! I had the freq. 460.4750 for Troop A mobile relay repeater for Hughesville-Pettis County programmed for search ctcss tone and it stopped on 110.9pl instead of the 186 or whatever PL tone is in the database. I had the PL tone that is listed in the database for that repeater but heard nothing and set it to search and it just hit on the 110.9 PL.
Can they just change tones anytime they want or file with the FCC or what.
Can anyway confirm this? I'm picking it up from Blue Springs

It is very active on 110.9 I hear what I believe to be HP officers that have been running persons but heard no response traffic from Base.
Am I picking up a different repeater, and on the same freq. as MOHP?

Could be somebody else..

Tones are not listed with the FCC, so they could set it to whatever they wanted.
I supposed they could change it whenever they felt like it.

Reconginze any of the Unit Numbers maybe to confirm the change in PL Tone?
Do you usually pick up Base/Dispatch?

I can pickup base/dispatch fine. I had this freq. programmed in my pro-95 last year and lived in Bates City and I've heard MOHP on it and since I got my 396 a couple months and programmed the PL tone I haven't heard a thing. It sounds just the same as I've always heard it. I know I've heard 990 on that same channel.

There is a chance the 460.475 (110.9) is used by Lenexa PD. I hear it as far out as US 50 Hwy in east of Lees Summit. Never paid much attention to it though as I always figured it was Lenexa using that PL. Will monitor from home to rule them in or out.

Hi ScanRRMan I am across the state from you and saw your post. If you are able to hear the car traffic like you said then you can easliy find out if it is in fact the MSHP. When they call in a car or something they should be saying 990 Lee Summit and the dispatch will say Lee Summit 990 the only down thing about that is hope that Lee Summit police department dont use the same identification as Troop A but they wont be on the same frequency.

I know in Rolla that even though they are on different frequencies they use different names for the dispatches. So The MSHP dispatch is called "Rolla State" and the local dispatch is called "Rolla Central" (often shortened to "Central" by the local units. I would assume that there is a similar system in place in Lee's Summit.

I know very well how they work. "990, 10-16 eastbound at the 45." I used to pick this freq. up when I lived out in Bates City which is about 10 or so miles west of where this repeater is located? Aullville? It came in better when I lived there. Could I really pick up a Lenexa PD repeater from that far away? WOW!
Lee's Summit Fire uses the same kind of identification, though. It's typically, "Truck 6, Lee's Summit, out on investigation..."

I also put the assigned Metro Repeater on tone search. I got one or two hits but was unable to hold it good enough for me to catch the tone. I also had the pl tone that's in the database programmed. We'll see.

BTW, 94MP is out on the hunt this morning! Somewhere around 435 but I shouldn't say a cross street. I like hearing those traps more than anything. 89mph is the highest so far!

hey soncorn Troop I must be using something new then because when i usually travel through Troop I but havent in awhile and i usually hear on Rolla City Police going 999 Central and the MSHP going 999 Rolla.

MSHP Car IDs that I was told by a trooper should be:
Troop A: 999 Lee Summit
Troop B: 999 Macon
Troop C: 999 Kirkwood
(This Troop HQ is really in Town and Country Missouri but is the only Troop that does not follow the right ID because back when Troop C was commissioned where it stands now it was Kirkwood Zipcode and area, so they just kept it instead of changing with the times and changing FCC calls.)

Troop D: 999 Springfield
Troop E: 999 Poplar Bluff
Troop F: 999 Jeff City
Troop G: 999 Willow Springs
Troop H: 999 St. Joseph
Troop I: 999 Rolla

I believe the p/l tone would be 162.2 for the remotes in troop A. I haven't been out east for a month or so, but the Pettis co link was still on 162.2 last time I was. I usually can't hear it from the KC area unless the band is open. The metro links (and Urich/Henry Co) are definitely still on a p/l of 162.2 as of yesterday. The Pettis Co link, and all but the Metro base-to-transmitter link (465.1875 P/L 162.2), are only repeating the car side of the traffic, so you won't hear any dispatch coms on them.
As far as Lenexa PD, you can hear them a long way. They must have a good site or lots of power, because I can pick them up almost anywhere in Jackson co on a handheld with a fubber duck.

I am speaking from the few years I spent there ending in 2003. Yes, the abbreviated way that they used was the MSHP would refer to "Rolla" and the central communications for the county would refer to "Central". For example though, if "Rolla Central" got ahold of "Rolla State" on a point to point link they would refer to each other as such. I then extrapolated this to mean that these are the actual labels.

Troop A Hughesville Repeater

All troop A repeaters use a 162.2 Hz tone, 110.9 is not MSHP. Last time I checked (which was about 4:30 this afternoon), the Hughesville repeater was doing its thing passing traffic from 42.02 over to UHF.

One thing to remember about these sites is they use directional yagi antennas that are horizontally polarized and they are aimed directly at the Troop HQ. So, if you have a vertically polarized antenna and are not within the beamwidth of the antennas, you won't hear them. Simply moving 5 or 10 miles could easily put you outside the beamwidth therefore keeping you from hearing the signal. If you suspect you are well within the beamwidth, try using a horizontally polarized beam or halo on UHF and see if that makes a difference ... it should.
