Seems to me if they don't want to go along with the troopers on saving jobs to better serve and protect the public, a "total recall" vote is instore. Start from scratch and get some common sense in Lansing.

This shows why Troopers are what they are. They don't have to do this and how many other departments weather it be local or county would do this to save their own brothers and sisters jobs? I can't think of any. This sets them boys and girls to a new level, showing that it is a brotherhood and that they are proud to a BLUE DIAMOND.

BREAKING NEWS
Michigan State Police layoffs avoided

LANSING (AP) -- A deal has been reached to avoid the layoffs of 29 Michigan State Police troopers planned for this weekend.

The deal was reached Friday with the help of the troopers' labor union.

The Michigan State Police Troopers Association voted to give the state treasury 400 thousand dollars to keep the troopers on the job.

A spokeswoman for Governor Jennifer Granholm confirmed a deal had been reached, but the details were not immediately released Friday.

The planned layoffs stemmed from state government's continued budget problems.

The state faces a budget shortfall of more than 600 million dollars for the fiscal year that began in October.

Wtf!

I can't believe it. I literally yelled at my computer when I read about this.

<begin rant>

WASN'T APRIL FOOLS DAY LAST SUNDAY?

What the heck is going on in Lansing? The staties union has to donate money TO THE STATE to save the troopers' jobs until a long term solution gets hammered out. The whole trooper force had to give up pay in order for the plan to work.

So, now the fatcat politicians are planning on giving away IPODS to every kid in a Michigan school? Because its an education tool? I realize that many college aged-kids listen to lectures on theirs, but right now mine is chock full of Def Leppard and Journey.

Could you imagine these troopers telling their families that their jobs are safe for another month or so but, hey, at least Junior is getting a nice I-Pod in Mrs. Smith's class!

WHAT IS HAPPENING IN LANSING? These people need to GROW UP, SIT DOWN, and HAMMER OUT a solution instead of squabbling like children.

Republicans in Lansing: Yeah, she won again. Get over it and work with her.
Democrats in Lansing: Quit taking every attack on your Governor to heart. They are pissed 'cause you won. Get over it and work with them.

You people are vested with a great deal of power, and we as citizens are looking to all of you--regardless of party---to save our state. The fact that the troopers union had to donate to the state because you were all busy fighting each other instead of working for the common good says alot. It says maybe the staties should take over the legislature because, unlike you folk, it seems that they have OUR BEST INTERESTS AT HEART.
