In case you were not already aware, tropical system Hannah may be heading in this direction by Saturday. The storm is expected to hit the Carolinas Friday then skirt the coastline from Virginia to Long Island. At that time, it could still possibly be at tropical storm status. A storm of this strength could impact much of New York state, bring flooding torrential rains, dangerous high winds, coastal flooding and rip currents, and intense thunderstorms with embedded tornadoes. The highest impact will be along the coastline. If you are not already doing so, it may be a good idea to monitor your local weather outlets and take other preparations.

If anyone is interested, the VOIP-WX Echolink Net will be streaming live again on my site.
Look for the VOIPWXNET link under Listen Live

The latest release from the VOIP-WX Group says that they will be activating the net tonight (Friday) at 6pm.
The VOIP WX net will not activate if Hanna does not reach hurricane strength.

The VOIP WX net is also scheduled to activate this Sunday morning for IKE (where ever it may go).

The latest release on their site states they will be activating tonight.

Here is a copy/paste from their last bulletin:
Hanna is currently expected to make landfall between Southeast North Carolina and Northeast South Carolina on Friday Evening. It is not clear whether Hanna will reach hurricane strength as it makes landfall but since there is very little difference between a strong tropical storm and a minimal hurricane and the fact that the system has a very large area of tropical storm force winds, the net will activate to cover the threats of a large, strong tropical storm Friday Night through Sunday Morning. As the system approaches Southern New England, VoIP Hurricane Net operations will merge into New England SKYWARN operations and the New England Reflector system will be tied to the *WX-TALK*/9219 system when that occurs.

New York is pretty far away for such a weak system to have too much of an impact.

Actually part of the state could be in the direct path of the still very strong tropical storm when it hits the area tomorrow afternoon. Hannah could slam Long Island Coastline with sustained winds of 40mph gusts as high as 55+. She is expected to zip right along the coast from Delaware/New Jersey all the way up to New England

I'm not sure Ike is going to impact New York... How did Hanna end up treating the state?

Getting some heavy rain now. No real wind yet. Location approx 75 miles north of NYC. Flash flood warnings are up. Flood conditions will most likely continue for the next day or so as the rain drains down from the Catskills. Nothing big so far.
