For the last couple of weeks, my scanner is silent on the Denton city group wendsday and thursday, then comes back to normal. This is only Denton city, county remains normal. If I go out of trunking and listen I ocassionally hear a bit of traffic.

Is this part of the digital conversion, or is this rebanding, or does anyone have a suggestion? I'll have to admit I'm not the brightest about programming my scanner.

I guess I'll be buying a new scanner come tax return time as I want to continue my hobby and looks like the marked it about to be flooded with 97's and 164's.

Thanks for reading

Might want to consider a digital scanner, not only do you get the benefit of P25, but it also handles rebanding via the custom band plans you can enter. I program my PSR500 win Win500 and it handles the rebanding bandpan for me.

They're still analog. I was receiving them ok at work in Hurst earlier.
What frequencies do you have programmed in the system?

Well, I observed the RR DB on this subject, but I thought I was hearing digital in that area. Of course, it has been several months ago. But, I am pretty sure I was hearing digital. But, like most folks, I could have made a mistake in my recollection.

BenScan, you nailed it. For some reason about 2/3 of the frequencies were gone from my scanner. Will have to wait until next Wensday to see if it goes silent again. Thanks!

It depends on the scanner. Newer scanners only need the control channels, and there are usually only 4 of those, but if they are not included, that would definitely cause problems.

All 3 public safety systems in Denton County are still Motorola type II analog.

Denton County is still 3 sites.
Denton added a new south site a couple of months back to help coverage in the south part of town.
Lewisville moved from a single site to two new sites 3-6 months back or so.

There have been no changes to any since then, nor are there any plans for P25 that I am aware of on any of the systems at this time, though most of the mobiles and portables are capable.
