I have conventional freqs. in banks 00 and 01, also have a trunked system in bank 02, they are all VHF freuqs. The problem is that I can only hear 2 freuqs., they are both fire depts. I'm using a RS Pro162 scanner and live in Christian county, MO. Can someone explain why I only get 2 freqs. when they are all VHF?
Looking at your county in the database,
https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?ctid=1500
I see that some of the Vhf frequencies for Police are tagged as depreciated. Also, there is a note about most of the agencies switching to the trunked system:
https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=7113
That trunked system is on Vhf, but it is a DMR system, not an analog voice one. Your
Pro-162 scanner cannot decode or track DMR systems.
For DMR systems, a list of scanners that can receive that format is in this Wiki
page. You would need to upgrade to one of those models to hear the agencies on the trunked system. Besides the ones listed on that
Wiki page, See comments in the
GRE and
Whistler forums, as well as in the
Radio Shack forum, on an upgrade path for other models: PSR-800, Pro-18, and Pro-668. Also see
this note.
