I've had an IC-2730a installed in my truck for a little over two years now and it has performed like a champ. When talking on a local repeater, I've been told that my audio just drifts out at times. My transmission at 5W is still keying the repeater, but the audio just seems to fade away. I do not seem to have the issue at 10W or 50W. I've tried reseating all the connectors and have checked the coax. I still need to check the connection of the NMO antenna mount. I've checked my hand position on the mic to ensure I'm not accidentally covering it. My thoughts are that it is a geography issue since most of the reports are when I'm traveling through low-lying areas, but others do not seem to have that issue when traveling through the same area(s). I'm wondering if there is anything I'm not thinking of that could be causing that kind of audio loss. TIA!

If you're problem is AF related and not RF, simple step but have you checked/swap the mic?
I didn't think it was RF-related. I don't have another mic to swap in, but I have checked the connections as well as I could. My next thoughts were to check the connections a little closer and listen to my transmission with an HT. Although, that's not practical if it's related to geography.

Hmm...I just found a similar thread and the culprit was the weather alert function. I'll have to check, but I'm fairly certain I only have that enabled on the B side of the radio and the A side is the one I'm using when I get the audio reports. I've heard that on receive, but never had anyone tell me about an issue on transmit.

"Read" and back up your radio's programming, then do a full CPU reset.
Then manually program your local repeater and maybe a simplex frequency as well and do some on air testing.
