    Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value.     The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

    This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

would it be a Safe to Assume that a police Departments TG's would run in Succession on a Statewide
Trs like 10,11,12 ?

Looking for some insight to Motorola Trs's Typical design Thanks for any help.

Talk group ID's can be assigned in succession, from a block, or randomly from the thousands that are available. It just depends on how the customer wants his fleet map to look. One method is to identify a departments talk groups and assign them a block of ID's. Another department might get another block of ID's for their talk groups and so on.

You need to specify what type of Motorola TRS, you are referring to. If you are referring to Type II analog, systems then TGs are multiple of "16" 1-16-32-48 and so on, that can not be changed. The multiples of 16 is a property of the Type II system. I don't know why it is 16, but it is what it is. Next, a Motorola P25 TRS, does NOT run by multiples of 16, so you can indeed do 1-2-3-4-5 and so on. It is upto the System administration on how the TGs are set up. IE in my county on the new P25 TRS. Every city PD has a different range of 10 TGs. So City A is 1200-1209, City B is 1210-1219, City C is 1220--. It really depends on how the admins design and designate groups of TGs.

If you haven't made it to the Colorado forum you should `hy thy self' there and ask this question there. (Oh, BTW, what radio are you trying to use? If it's one that I have I can probably send you a file you can use to get started as I'm pretty much just up/down the road from you. If it isn't one that I have you'll probably have some one else offer one that's compatible.)

It's 16 because the ones in-between (the id +n) are used for things like emergency calls, patches, MSEL.

Type II digital is no different.

1 is not a multiple of 16.

It's 16 because Type II systems broadcast a 12 bit talkgroup number field and a four bit call type field, but scanner manufacturers were too dumb to split them. So we get Type II "scanner" talkgroup numbers that are 16 times larger than they should be.

Look at any Type II system in the RR database and pick a talkgroup; I'm looking at one that is hex 11 (decimal 17) - its trunk tracker "decimal" value is 272 (17x16). You'll never see Motorola refer to that talkgroup as 272, because it isn't. 11 (hex), 17 (decimal) or 800017 - no problemo. 272? Not gonna happen.
