I have the BC 235 and about every fourth day I am unable to pick up any traffic. Is it possible I am missing a control channel? What could it be. I am talking about the talk groups. I cannot get any info from the talkgroups on that fourth day and then the next three days are fine.

Thanks for any help.

Sounds like you may know the problem (no CC). Step through the freqs during the fourth day for the CC noise, if none present, no CC is present.

Also, check the RRDatabase for your system for a 4th CC, keeping in mind nearly all Smartnet (and some Smartzones) systems have 4 CC's and most will have a pattern for which freqs are used as control. IE, many have matching last 4 digits. Or two of the last 4 are the same and the other two match with a different last 4.

Thank you for responding. I stepped through the freq's as you suggested. I found the following making the loudnoise:

860.2375

859.7625

858.8375

I thought I had an idea of the system but I guess I know far less than I previously thought. Since I have the BC 235 I am only able to program in 30 channels per bank. I have all thirty programmed but am lost as to where the other CC could be.

I found all three of your frequencies in the Palmetto system as Alt Controls

If this is the system then you should also have the Primary controls programmed.
Salley tower
Alt=858.8375
Pri=859.8375

Eastover tower
Alt=860.2375
Pri=860.8625

N. Augusta Tower
Alt=859.7625
Pri=860.7375

I also found 860.2375 (Eastover Alt) as a CC in the Charleston CO Mot system.

You should have these freqs programmed in the same bank.

856.2375
856.4875
856.7375
856.9375
857.2375
857.4875
857.7375
857.9375
858.2375
858.4875
858.7375
858.9375
859.2375 Alt CC
859.4875
859.7375
859.9375
860.2375 Pri CC
860.4875
860.7375
860.9375

Why do you have 858.8375 and 859.7625 in this bank?

County has 20, City has 16. But he must have incorrect data, because two of his CC noise freqs aren't in either system

I now have 28 programmed in and am picking up my talk groups again!
If any of the extra 8 freqs are Controls for another system, your scanner may acquire one of these other systems and not track correctly. Review your programmed freqs with the list I posted and remove any extra 800 trunking freqs. Better yet, review this RR Charleston CO page .

Edit: We"re posting at the same time. :)

If he is hearing noise on these freqs at the same time (860.2375, 859.7625 and 858.8375) then I don't think the 235 will correctly trunk track the system.
