So I have figured out how to manually program my Whistler WS1065 scanner. I am a premium RR member. What I am having a hard time understanding is weather or not the frequency I am entering is trunked or conventional. I don't see that information when I search the Radio Reference lists. Pardon my lack of knowledge, I am new. Thanks for your patience and help.

If you're looking at the FCC licenses, look at the service code and compare against this list:

FCC Radio Service Codes - The RadioReference Wiki

Some of the more common trunking service codes are:
SY - Public Safety 700 MHz Trunked
YE - Public Safety/Spec Emerg/PS Natl Plan,806-817/851-862MHz,Trunked
YF - Public Safety National Plan, 821-824/866-869 MHz, Trunked
YP - Public Safety/Spec Emerg, 806-821/851-866 MHz, Trunked
YW - Public Safety Pool, Trunked

However, you might occasionally find a conventional frequency being used in trunked mode, or vice versa.

You may be better off using the search function of the RR database to see if a particular frequency is already identified and if so, for what.

I can tell you how I use the data base, and my understanding of how it works. Maybe it will help you. It is my understanding that the data base separates conventional channels and trunked systems. I will walk you through how I use it.

Go to the top of the page where it says databases, choose Frequency Data base. Then choose the state and county where you live.

This page shows you all the conventional channels for your area. Also notice that at the beginning of the list it says your area uses the "Snohomish County Public Safety (SERS" system. Clicking this link will take you to that page. Also at the bottom of the page it lists all the trunked systems in your area. And if a particular area or county uses mainly a trunked system it will say that and link you to that page. An example would be Marysville in your area. It says it uses a trunked system and gives you link to it.

When you go the Snohomish County Public Safety (SERS) page it will first list all the frequencies for that system. If you click on County it will sort them in alphabetical order by county. Not much of an issue for you since it is a small list. In may area it is very long because the system coves the whole state.

Below this section it lists all the talk groups for that system.

That is how I navigate the data base. I can't help you with programming, I am not familiar with how your scanner programs.
