Was wondering if anyone can help me with this. All of the sudden yesterday, trunker would not work on my XP machine. It was working just fine for 2 years, and when I went to start it yesterday I got this mesage (see attached file)

I even tried downloading a fresh copy of the program > No Dice.
I did a system restore > No Dice

Anyone have any ideas?

Three words, perhaps..

"Service Pack 2"?

I haven't tried running any of my trunker-type software on XP since I installed SP2, but it has given me grief with some other software. (Minor stuff, y'know, like Windows Explorer CRASHING when trying to view folders.)

If you have recently installed SP2, it might possibly be the cause. Or if you selected "Automatic Downloads" in the SP2 harassment screens.

Then again, XP is not exactly renowned for its DOS abilities anyway..

Wish I could be of more help...

[EDIT: Looking at your screencap again, have you created a shortcut for Trunker? What happens if you try to run it directly, either from Explorer or a command prompt? You may have to build a new shortcut... maybe something (*cough*SP2) has corrupted or made unusable the existing shortcut.) Also, AUTOEXEC.NT is a file kind of like the AUTOEXEC.BAT on the DOS boxen of old, but for NT (and XP) to allow DOS compatibility in a Command Prompt window. (CP is not a DOS shell in XP, like it was in previous Windows versions.)]

Hey Jay!

Thanks for the response! Yes, it does come up with a similar error when I try to run the program directly as well (see attached).

I haven't upgraded to SP2 yet as I also have heard of some issues (automatic updates are disabled as well). It does run when I boot up in DOS just fine.

The only weird thing that's happend lately is that the youngest one in the house recently tried to go to one of those Playstation cheat sites, and kept pressing YES. It installed a whack of spy programs which Adaware took care of. No viruses detected with Norton. But this was days ago, and it was working after that happened...

Well, the common thread (visually) appears to be AUTOEXEC.NT, but I'd be wary about messing around with that if you're not familiar with it. It's been way too long since I messed with autoexec and batch files, and I myself wouldn't feel comfortable. :)

Then again, it could be something else. I could be way off the mark..

I keep a 98SE machine around for my running of T4WIN, Trunkito, etc....

Hey Guys! If I select ignore the same thing happens if I choose close> Pop up closes, and program doesn't start.

I've also tried the compatibility things, swtiched it among all choices with no result.

Maybe I've been infected with a virus?

Can you take a look at autoexec.net file to see if the first three line are REM out and see if look like this.
Take a look at your Autoexec.nt file this is what mine looks like
@echo off

REM AUTOEXEC.BAT is not used to initialize the MS-DOS environment.
REM AUTOEXEC.NT is used to initialize the MS-DOS environment unless a
REM different startup file is specified in an application's PIF.

OK, this is kind of strange.. I did a search, and I don't have any autoexec.net or autoexec.nt files anywhere on the hard drive. I made sure that even hidden files were being searched... Somethings not right here..
